There are times in life when our usual ways of resolving issues just don't work, leaving us feeling that we are facing the world alone. This is when counselling can help you.

I am Jacqueline and I am a fully qualified counsellor. I have a warm and empathic approach and I aim to provide you with a welcoming, non-judgemental and confidential space where you can feel heard, understood and valued. I can help you to make changes to improve your situation and find meaningful ways forward in your life. Read how this worked for other people like you.

My Approach

I am able to draw on different therapeutic approaches which enables me to work with your individual needs and style.  Providing a space to listen, support and work with you, at a pace that is comfortable for you, to explore the difficulties you are encountering.

In sessions, I mainly work within the evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework, however I also use an integrative and holistic approach, and integrate tools and techniques from other modalities. to provide a tailored and unique approach for each client. I can also offer you Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Mindfulness techniques.

About me and how I can help you

Throughout my life I have helped others by being a good listener and confidant.  After experiencing profound loss and subsequent life changing events, I felt it was time to follow a career path that would help me make a difference in people’s lives.  This interest led me on a journey of studying for 4 years to become a counsellor, and I continue to study and learn.

I live in a rural area of the Scottish Borders, and appreciate the space, freedom and beauty of the countryside.  I am also aware of the disadvantages that rural life brings, with lone working in sectors such as farming, forestry, and construction as well as the feelings of isolation in living in rural areas, and I am passionate about improving mental health wellbeing in rural areas.

Around the same time as I started to study to become a counsellor, I began training to become a listening volunteer with Samaritans and 5 years on I am now Deputy Director of Recruitment and Training and Lead Trainer at the branch I work from in the Scottish Borders. I am also a member of the After a Suicide Working Group, which works on helping to make support more easily accessible to those bereaved by suicide.

My aim and vision is to make a difference to help people live a more fulfilled and purposeful life. You can see how I’ve helped others here. Please do contact me to find out more on how I can help you.
